Molly

Last year at this time Jon and I were trying to decide what to do about Molly. Starting from the time Molly was about 1 month old she decided she didn't enjoy eating. She was in the doctor's office about every other week for weight checks and testing for quite a few weeks before being admitted to Children's Mercy Hospital for what would be the beginning of one of the hardest times we have ever had to face. While in the hospital, Molly underwent countless tests to try to figure out why she wouldn't eat and why she was not gaining weight like the normal baby should. We stayed in the hospital just under a week. Before we came home, Molly was given an NG feeding tube. It is a tube that is placed in the nose and goes down to the stomach. I thought this was going to be our quick fix so she could gain some weight and realize that eating was a good thing. Little did I know how long she would need it. Fast-forward to March 09...the hospital and doctors here had told us they could not figure out why Molly would not eat besides the fact that she had Acid Reflux. They told us that she needed to have a new feeding tube placed in her stomach as this was going to be more of a long term problem. Jon and I both felt that we needed a second opinion from a different hospital. We decided upon St. Louis Children's Hospital. We had a great visit. We ended up leaving the hospital without the feeding tube, without the medicines, and without all of the special formulas. We were going to give Molly one more try with eating all on her own. It was scary at first, but very slowly Molly started to eat and to gain weight! So that is where we are now. It has been one year to the day of being tube fed free and Molly is doing great!

We are so thankful for Molly and the blessing she is to our family. We are so thankful for the family and friends who did so much for us during the last year or so. You don't know how much that meant to us and how your support really helped us. We are also so thankful for all of those who prayed for Molly and for our family. God really answered our prayers! We give Him all the glory..it is truly a miracle to see how Molly is now compared to a year ago.
